Brain Injury Basics– An Introduction

This presentation will cover the cause of brain injury nationally and in the state of Minnesota.  The prevalence of brain injury among children, teens and adults will also be addressed.  Common changes caused by brain injury will be discussed including cognitive, behavioral and physical symptoms. Basic medical rehabilitation, compensatory strategies and resources will also be provided.

About the Instructor:

Christina Kollman received her BS in Social Work from Concordia College. She is a licensed social worker and a certified brain injury specialist. Christina has worked with the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance for 10 years; she currently manages the Resource Facilitation and Education program. Resource Facilitation provides free follow-up to all Minnesotans who have sustained a brain injury, their caregivers and the professionals that support them.
