Decreasing Power Struggles

The daily interaction of direct-care professionals with their consumers who have developmental disabilities can sometimes lead to conflict.  However in many cases, conflict, which begins with subtle struggles for power, can be prevented with early intervention.  The goal of this seminar is to help professionals identify power struggles and manage them before crisis-level interventions are required.  The instructor will describe the anatomy of a power struggle and offer recommendations on how to avoid them.
